On 29 Jan 2026, Madam Pang Nualphan Lamsam, President of the Football Association of Thailand, boosted the morale of the Thai futsal team by awarding a 1,000,000 baht bonus after their assured advancement to the quarterfinals of the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship in Indonesia.
The War Elephants' futsal team started with a 2-0 win over Lebanon, followed by a 6-1 victory against Kuwait, securing 6 full points from the first two matches and guaranteeing a place in the quarterfinals alongside Vietnam, despite their upcoming group stage clash on 31 Jan 2026.
Madam Pang, the association president, took the opportunity to video call and encourage the Thai futsal players and coaching staff before the first match, announcing a 1,000,000 baht bonus if they successfully advance to the next round.
The Thailand national futsal team is competing as the defending runner-up from 2024. In their final group match, a draw against Vietnam will ensure they advance as group champions.
