Chaowala Sri-awut, a Thai national futsal player, openly admitted that defensive mistakes caused Thailand to be eliminated at the quarterfinal stage of the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship.
Chaowala Sri-awut spoke after Thailand's 2-4 loss to Iraq, which ended their journey at the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals held in Indonesia.
"Today we didn't achieve our goal. Everyone gave their best. Our defensive mistakes caused us to concede goals and forced us to chase the score," Chaowala said.
"Thank you to the Thai national team fans for your support. Sorry we could only get this far."
Following this, the Thai men's futsal team will return to Thailand immediately, arriving at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on 4 February 2026 at approximately 13:30. A planning meeting will then be held to prepare the team for the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026, scheduled from 5–12 April 2026 at Nonthaburi Stadium.
