Despite the draw being completed, Cambodia has withdrawn from the 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship in Thailand, requiring a rescheduling of the event.
On 9 March 2026, the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026, hosted by Thailand, saw a recent development as the Cambodia national futsal team announced its withdrawal from the competition.
Previously, the group draw was held on 1 March 2026 with nine participating nations: host Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Cambodia, and Brunei. They were divided into two groups—Group A with four teams and Group B with five teams.
However, Cambodia has now officially withdrawn despite the draw and schedule being finalized. This reduces the total teams to eight and requires adjusting the competition format to two groups of four teams each to maintain balance.
Group A, which includes the Thailand national team, remains with four teams, while Group B is reduced from five to four teams following Cambodia's withdrawal. The updated groupings are as follows.
Group A: Thailand (host), Vietnam, Myanmar, Timor-Leste.
Group B: Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Brunei.
The group stage will be played in a round-robin format within each group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, followed by the final match to determine the champion.
The 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship will be held from 5 to 13 April 2026 (subject to change) at the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization Central Stadium. Indonesia enters as the defending champion, while Thailand, who finished third last time, aims to reclaim the title on home soil in front of local futsal fans.
