Fifth Round of the IPSC Shotgun Selection at Ubon Ratchathani Bustling Thanawadee Clinches Modified Division Womens Championship

The fifth round of the IPSC shotgun selection at Ubon Ratchathani was lively, with "Thanawadee" hitting the target to claim the women's Modified Division championship.

The IPSC Thailand Shooting Association, together with the Ubon Ratchathani IPSC Shooting Association, jointly organized the 2026 Ubon Ratchathani IPSC Handgun-Shotgun Championship at the Ubon Ratchathani IPSC Shooting Range in Ubon Ratchathani Province from 14 to 15 March 2026 GMT+7. The competition featured 61 handgun shooters and 80 shotgun shooters. Notably, the shotgun event served as the fifth of seven selection matches for the Thai national IPSC shotgun team to compete in the 2026 World IPSC Shotgun Championship in Greece this September.

At this match, each shooter was determined to perform at their best, as cumulative scores in each division were very close. Contestants fiercely competed to secure the championship, especially in the women's Modified Division, where Thanawadee Piekyaem, the 2023 world champion, successfully claimed the title as expected.

Other division winners included: in the Open Division, male champion Police Lieutenant Wisit Sriyaphai and female champion Pimmada Lertkrai; in the Standard Auto Division, male champion Pongpon Kulchairatna and female champion Panicha Siriwongdecha; in the Standard Manual Division, male champion Wisanu Phuanglamjeak; and in the Modified Division, male champion Watcharapol Charoendechkul.

After the event, Mr. Worapon Kulchairatna, Vice President of the Association, expressed gratitude to the Ubon Ratchathani IPSC Shooting Association for organizing a successful competition and impressing all the athletes. He explained that this event was a national team selection round, and the association will send athletes to compete in the World Championship in Greece this September. Selection will be based on the best cumulative scores from four of the seven matches.

"It is encouraging that five rounds have already attracted many athletes interested in the selection. The remaining two rounds will take place next week at the Samut Prakan IPSC Shooting Association, and the final round will be an international-level competition held at our association’s range in early April," the Vice President said.
