
Today's results: Thailand's national futsal team crushed Timor-Leste in the opening match of the 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship.
On 6 April 2026, the 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship is taking place at the Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium from 6 to 12 April 2026.
The tournament features 8 nations: Group A includes Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste; Group B includes Indonesia (the defending champion), Australia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam.
Thailand's national futsal team played its first Group A match against Timor-Leste. "Coach Mee" Rakpol Sainetngam, Thailand's futsal head coach, aims to reclaim the ASEAN championship from Indonesia.
In the 6th minute of the first half, from a long ball, Muhammad Usman Musa controlled the ball and struck it with his right foot to give Thailand a 1-0 lead.
In the 12th minute, Thailand extended their lead to 2-0. Panas Kittipanuwong's initial shot was saved by Domingos Kama but the rebound fell to Muhammad Usman Musa who scored on the follow-up.
At the 17th minute, Thailand went ahead 3-0 when Jaroondej Muentieng ran forward to receive a pass from Apiwat Jamcharoen and shot past the near post.
In the 33rd minute, Timor-Leste narrowed the gap to 1-3. Bendito Ramos dribbled past Theerawat Kaewwilai and scored.
At the 36th minute, Thailand increased the lead to 4-1 when Narongsak Wingwon shot with his right foot, with Panas Kittipanuwong dodging to get into position.
The match ended with Thailand beating Timor-Leste 4-1, securing their first 3 points but remaining second in Group A behind Vietnam, who defeated Myanmar 4-0.
