Thailands National Futsal Team Comeback Win Over Indonesia to Claim 17th ASEAN Championship

Thailand's national futsal team defeated Indonesia to win the ASEAN championship for the 17th time, avenging their defeat at the 2025 SEA Games.

On 12 April 2026 GMT+7, Thailand's men's national futsal team faced Indonesia in the final of the 2026 ASEAN Championship. This was a rematch of the 2025 SEA Games final, where the "Little War Elephants" suffered a disappointing 1-5 loss, missing out on the gold medal.

In this match, coach Rakphon Sainetngam, known as "Coach Bear," selected the starting five: goalkeeper Theerawat Kaewwilai, captain Itthicha Praphapan, Panus Kittipanwong, Apiwat Jamcharoen, and Muhammad Usman Musa.

At the 16th minute, Indonesia took the lead 1-0 through Andres Putra.

At the 20th minute, Thailand equalized 1-1 with a penalty scored by Itthicha Praphapan.

At the 31st minute, Thailand took the lead 2-1 thanks to Panus Kittipanwong.

No further goals were scored in the remaining time, and the match ended with Thailand defeating Indonesia 2-1. This victory secured Thailand's 17th ASEAN futsal championship title.
