New Season of the Futsal Thai League Kicks Off

New season of the "Futsal Thai League" begins.

Countdown to the start of the new season of the "Futsal Thai League," Thailand's top professional futsal league, named "MEA FUTSAL THAI LEAGUE 2026."

Set to ignite excitement with 'El Niño' on Saturday and Sunday, 2-3 May.

The competition comes with the theme Futsal Underground under the main concept One Spirit. One Game. Thai Futsal. Thai Futsal – From Concrete Courts to the World Stage.

Or "From Concrete Courts to the World Stage," emphasizing the charm and origins of Thai players nurtured on community concrete courts.

These grassroots foundations have propelled the Thai national team to showcase their prowess on the global stage.

“Big Pom” Adisak Benjasiriwan, Vice President of the Football Association of Thailand and the initiator of the professional futsal league in Thailand, revealed that

this year’s Thai Futsal League continues with MEA, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, as the main sponsor for the third consecutive year.

This is an important year as efforts are made to raise the intensity of the matches to elevate the league’s standard to the forefront of Asia.

Importantly, the "MEA Futsal Thai League" serves as the primary platform for producing quality futsal players for the Thai national futsal team.

In the 2026 season, fans will experience increased excitement with the introduction of a Play-off system for the first time.

Teams ranked 1st to 6th in the regular season will qualify for the play-offs to compete for the championship.

This method has long been used by leading global futsal leagues such as those in Spain, Brazil, and Portugal.

Additionally, “Big Pom” confirmed the comeback of the Futsal FA Cup competition.

This aims to build strong Soft Power and open opportunities for Thai youth to showcase their potential and advance to professional levels.

Meanwhile, “Big Pok” Warong Thiwat, chairman of the Thai Futsal League organizing committee, described the professional league as a "dream factory."

This represents a “pyramid of sustainability” that sports enthusiasts and the government should recognize.

League builds athletes: Without a strong league, where else can we polish the gems to national team level?

National team athletes inspire: When national heroes shine, youth eagerly await their chance to step up.

Youth are the future: When children have dreams, they enter the academy system, creating an endless cycle.

We must acknowledge that futsal is an “industry” spread throughout the country.

“Clubs” are player factories; the “league” is a platform producing content every week.

Employment is massive, both direct (players/coaches) and indirect (vendors/tourism/media).

The sports business cannot be judged solely by profit and loss, because its true value lies in

creating jobs and livelihoods for Thai people.

Promoting well-being and reducing social problems and drug abuse.

Building soft power and national pride on the international stage.

This should be a top priority for government support.

Because the returns are worth far more than mere numbers in an account!
