Jai, Track Cyclist, Confident in Winning 2 SEA Games Gold Medals

"Jai," a track cyclist, is confident about winning two gold medals at the SEA Games.

"Jai Angsuthasawit" confidently announced his goal to win two gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games track cycling events, specifically in the keirin and team sprint categories. Meanwhile, "Judah Isaiah Thompson" affirmed his commitment to perform his best to bring recognition to Thailand.

General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the track cycling competition at the 33rd SEA Games will be the final cycling discipline contested. Scheduled for 18-19 December at the Huamark Velodrome under the Sports Authority of Thailand, five gold medals will be awarded: men's team pursuit, men's team sprint, men's keirin, men's points race, and women's scratch race. The Thai national cycling team has been training at the Huamark Velodrome under the guidance of head coach Police Lieutenant Colonel Adisak Wannasri.

General Decha said that according to reports from coach Adisak, all athletes are in good physical condition and steadily improving their records, especially the short-distance cyclists competing in the keirin event. These include "TJ" Jai Angsuthasawit, the gold medalist in keirin at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia, and "Nao" Police Corporal Norseth Thada Bunma, who is also performing well. The Cycling Association aims to secure at least one gold medal in track events from Jai. Additionally, Thai cyclists have chances for gold in other events, such as the men's team sprint, men's team pursuit, and the women's scratch race, featuring "Beez" Female Sergeant Jutatip Maneepan, who will join after completing road racing duties.

"Every cyclist is like my child, so we take good care of them. I have resolved all problems and obstacles for the athletes, including training and competition equipment. Regarding allowances, the association has advanced full payments, which has lifted the athletes' spirits. Everyone is motivated and focused on winning gold medals. I encourage all Thai fans to come cheer for our athletes at the Huamark Velodrome; admission is free. Their support will inspire the athletes to succeed in winning gold at this SEA Games. Thank you," General Decha said.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Adisak stated that the athletes are fully prepared in this final phase, with short-distance track cyclists at 100% fitness. Mid-distance cyclists may not yet be at full peak since they were in top form during the Asia Track Cup 2025 in late August. Training intensity was reduced afterward but has now been gradually increased. With about two weeks remaining, full readiness is expected. Judah Isaiah Thompson, originally entered only in the points race, has been trialed by coaching staff in the team pursuit alongside teammates Police Lieutenant Colonel Thurakit Boonrattanathanakorn, Police Corporal Worut Paekrathok, Sergeant Thak Kaewnoi, Mr. Natkrit Kaewnoi, and Mr. Phutthapong Chalermsri Muang. The team pursuit event allows five athletes per team.

Coach Nop added that initially, Judah was worried about competing for a spot with other cyclists, but the coach explained that selection depends on performance times; whoever posts better times will be chosen. Judah understood this and prepared well by reviewing past SEA Games cycling footage to study opponents' riding styles. He also consulted on techniques with the coach. Currently, Judah is focusing primarily on the points race. The highest medal hopes lie in the keirin event, featuring "TJ" Jai Angsuthasawit as the top contender, along with "Nao" Police Corporal Norseth Thada Bunma, who also has medal prospects. Both will also compete in the team sprint event, which includes "Makham" Senior Police Sergeant Yunyong Petchrat. Based on joint training statistics, they have strong chances for gold. The main competitors will be Malaysian cyclists.

"TJ" Jai said he is now in full physical condition. For this SEA Games, he hopes to perform as well as he and cycling fans expect, aiming to win gold medals in both events he is competing in—the keirin and team sprint. He invited Thai fans to come and cheer enthusiastically, promising they will see excellent performances from the team.

"Nao" Norseth Thada said, "My body is fully healthy with no injuries. In training for the keirin event, I and my teammate Jai have been evenly matched, though I may have less experience. I will compete in two events like Jai—the keirin and team sprint—and will do my best. I ask fellow Thais to support and cheer for us a lot."

Judah said he is committed to following the coach's training program, studying rivals' strategies from other countries, and planning his race tactics accordingly. Although recently recovered from illness, he is now fully fit. Despite this being his first SEA Games, he will do his utmost to bring honor to Thailand.

The track cycling competition schedule at the 33rd SEA Games at Huamark Velodrome is as follows: On 18 December, starting at 14:00, three gold medals will be contested in the men's keirin, women's scratch race, and men's team pursuit. On 19 December, also starting at 14:00, two gold medals will be awarded in the men's points race and men's team sprint. Admission is free for those interested in attending.
