SEA Games 2025 Thailand issues clarification after being exposed for using AI images that contradict an 8 million baht budget.
On 4 Dec 2025 GMT+7, following heavy backlash against the official page of the 33rd SEA Games for mistakes including incorrect national flags, difficult-to-read competition schedules, and a promotional poster for a virtual run created with AI that raised questions about the design team’s involvement, it was revealed that the problematic graphic originated from the winner of an 8 million baht online media communication contract.
Recently, the SEA GAMES Thailand 2025 page posted a heartfelt apology, explaining that it receives promotional materials from multiple agencies to help disseminate information widely, and occasionally some information may be inaccurate or incomplete.
The statement said that since the SEA GAMES Thailand 2025 page’s primary mission is to create illustrations, post information, and write official news content from the organizing committee, as well as support and promote the 33rd SEA Games, it receives promotional materials from various agencies to help spread information broadly.
However, sometimes content, images, or materials received for promotion may contain inaccuracies or be incomplete, which is beyond the page's control. Nonetheless, the page remains committed to verifying key competition information accurately and continuously supporting the dissemination of information about the SEA Games.
We sincerely apologize for any errors in the information or promotional materials published. We thank everyone who has provided feedback and suggestions, which we will use to improve our communications going forward.
