Thailand Mens Badminton Team Loses to Malaysia 1-3, Shares Bronze at ASEAN Games 2025

The Thailand men's badminton team was defeated by Malaysia 1-3, resulting in Thailand earning a shared bronze medal at the "ASEAN Games 2025."


On 8 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the men's team badminton competition at the 2025 ASEAN Games, held in Thailand from 9 to 20 December 2025, reached the semifinals at Gymnasium 4, Thammasat University Rangsit Center. The Thai national team faced the Malaysian national team.

The first match was men's singles No. 1 “View” Kulawut Vitidsarn, ranked world No. 3, who defeated Liang Jun Hao, ranked No. 30 globally, 2-0 in games with scores of 21-15 and 21-15, giving Thailand an early 1-0 lead.

Next, in the men's doubles No. 1 match, “M” Supak Jomkoh and “P” Peerachai Sukpan faced Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik. The Thai pair lost 0-2 with scores of 18-21 and 19-21, allowing Malaysia to even the score at 1-1. Then, in men's singles No. 2, “Ikkyu” Panitchaphon Theeraratsakul lost 0-2 to Justin Hoh, 10-21 and 17-21, putting Malaysia ahead 2-1.

In the men's doubles No. 2, “Bass” Dechapol Puavaranukroh and “Omo” Pakphol Thiraratsakul faced Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Tee. The Thai pair lost 1-2 with scores of 14-21, 21-18, and 17-21, resulting in Thailand's 1-3 defeat to Malaysia. Thailand shared the bronze medal with Singapore, while Malaysia advanced to the final against Indonesia on 10 December.
