- Thailand will take their second step in the quest to reclaim the SEA Games football title after 8 years (last won in 2017 in Malaysia), aiming to increase their gold medal tally to 17. They currently hold 3 points from a 6-1 win over Timor-Leste in the first match.
Singapore, having surprisingly lost 1-3 to Timor-Leste in their first match, are in a difficult position with zero points. They must defeat Thailand and improve their goal difference to keep hopes alive of advancing as the best second-placed team among all three groups.
Thailand only needs to avoid defeat to advance directly to the 2025 SEA Games football semifinals as Group A champions. Their last meeting in the 2023 SEA Games group stage in Cambodia saw Thailand beat Singapore 3-1, with Yotsakorn Burapha being the only player remaining in the current Thailand squad from that match.
