Aiyawatt Delighted as Thai Polo Team Wins Historic Gold for Nation and Late Father

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is overjoyed as he leads the Thai polo team to win a historic gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games.

Following the 2025 SEA Games polo final in the 2-4 goal category at VS Sport Club in Bang Bo, Samut Prakan Province, Aiyawatt and Apichet, two brothers from the Srivaddhanaprabha family, along with Natthapong Prathumlee and Thanasilp Chuewangkham, led the Thai national polo team to a historic first gold medal by defeating Brunei decisively 7.5-0.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, speaking as the team representative, shared his happiness that the team executed their plan successfully to win the gold medal for Thailand, as well as in honor of his late father, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who pioneered this sport in the country.

"I must say we prepared extensively and planned thoroughly. We focused on executing our strategy carefully without underestimating our opponents, giving our all. We knew the final was a single decisive match with no room for error. Luckily, we succeeded. Everyone was determined to bring home the gold for Thailand."

"Today, we performed perfectly, as you can see by the fact that we did not concede any goals. Sports have winners and losers, but this time we succeeded, and I am very happy."

"Polo might still be new to the SEA Games, but I hope Thai sports fans will see it as a sport somewhat like football since it involves scoring goals and fast-paced action. I encourage everyone to support us so we might have another chance to win gold."

"We also want to do this for my father, who introduced this sport to Thailand. We wanted the gold medal badly, and today we achieved it."

This victory marks a historic milestone for Thai polo, following previous achievements of bronze at the 24th SEA Games and silver at the 29th SEA Games, now culminating in their first-ever SEA Games gold medal this year in grand fashion.
