How Is May Ratchanok Doing? Latest Update on Her Fall After Reaching the Badminton SEA Games 2025 Quarterfinals

How is "May Ratchanok" doing? She reveals her latest condition after a fall following her advancement to the badminton SEA Games 2025 quarterfinals.

On 11 Dec 2025 GMT+7, May Ratchanok Intanon, the world No. 8 Thai national badminton player in women's singles, spoke after her victory at the 33rd SEA Games hosted by Thailand at Gymnasium 4, Thammasat University, Rangsit Center.

On the first day of the individual event, May Ratchanok Intanon competed in the women's singles first round against Thet Htar Thuzar, ranked 117th globally from Myanmar. They had met twice before, with Ratchanok winning both times.

May Ratchanok performed to her ranking as the tournament's second seed, winning 2-0 with scores of 21-15 and 21-14. She advanced to the quarterfinals to face Christel Fuentespina from the Philippines.

Ratchanok Intanon commented on Thet Htar Thuzar, saying, "This time, she made me quite stressed, but I tried to focus on myself a lot. If I expect too much from myself, it becomes stressful, but today I got through it. I feel like I won both the game and overcame myself today."

Regarding the fall in the second game that seemed to cause injury, May Ratchanok revealed, "Normally, I don't fall like that—not like View Kulwut Vitidsanat, who falls and gets up quickly. I don't know how to control my weight or foot placement when falling. I feel some stinging in my knee, but there's no actual knee injury, just some skin irritation."

"(My goal after reaching the quarterfinals) is to focus on each round as best as I can, try to enjoy it, and I want the fans to cheer all the way to the finals. I want to play my last SEA Games until the final. My goal is definitely to win the gold medal on home soil."
