Puripol Boonsorn tearfully opened up after winning the gold medal in the men's 100m at the 2025 SEA Games.
On 11 December 2025 GMT+7, in the men's 100m final at the 2025 SEA Games, “Biw” Puripol Boonsorn claimed the gold medal with a time of 10.00 seconds. In the preliminary round, he ran 9.94 seconds, marking his first-ever sub-10-second run.
After the race, Puripol said, “I’m very happy. In the first round, I ran under 10 seconds—I even cried. I feel very satisfied. We’ve prepared for a long time. The association brought in foreign coaches specifically for training, and I won a gold medal for Thailand, adding another SEA Games gold.”
“I’m very glad to have overcome intense pressure. Thai people hoped I would run under 10 seconds, so I tried not to overthink and just did my best. Today, I’m very happy to show Thai people that I can do it. Next, I will compete in the men’s 200m and the 4x100m relay. Please follow my progress—I will give my all.”
“I feel a bit regretful that I hadn’t broken the 10-second barrier before. It depended on my feel and the weather conditions. This time, I was able to give my full effort.”
“I thank my family, especially my mother, who cheered me on from the sidelines. Thank you so much, Mom, for always supporting me from the start,” he said, voice trembling with tears. “I also thank the association for full support and all my friends and seniors.”
