On 12 Dec 2025, the updated medal tally for the 33rd SEA Games as of 22:30 shows Thailand leading with 66 gold, 43 silver, and 28 bronze medals. Vietnam follows with 24 gold, 17 silver, and 43 bronze medals, while Indonesia ranks third with 20 gold, 28 silver, and 24 bronze medals.

Rank 1: Thailand with 66 gold, 43 silver, and 28 bronze medals, totaling 137 medals.

Rank 2: Vietnam with 24 gold, 17 silver, and 43 bronze medals, totaling 84 medals.

Rank 3: Indonesia with 20 gold, 28 silver, and 24 bronze medals, totaling 72 medals.

A highlight on 12 December was the men's 400 meters gold medal won by Joshua Robert Atkinson, a Thai-Australian runner who previously earned four gold medals at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam (400 m, 800 m, men's 4×400 m relay, and mixed 4×400 m relay). After a less impressive performance at the 2023 SEA Games with only two silver medals in relay events, he reclaimed top form.

Another highlight came from taekwondo, where Ballang Thapthimdaeng, the reigning world champion and current world number one in the men's under 68 kg category, decisively defeated Lao Nusser, a young Filipino fighter, 2-0 to claim the gold medal as expected.

The other four Thai taekwondo fighters competing for gold on the same day had the following results:

1. Kamonchanok Siken, women's under 49 kg: silver medal

2. Sirawit Mahahmad, men's under 58 kg: gold medal

3. Ballang Thapthimdaeng, men's under 68 kg: gold medal

4. Kanjanalak Chuenchuklin, women's under 73 kg: bronze medal

5. Thanathorn Saejo, men's under 80 kg: gold medal
