The highlight was Kirin Tantivet, a Thai runner who had just recently won gold in the 1,500-meter race, competing in this event as the defending champion.
Kirin did not disappoint Thai sports fans, finishing first with a time of 14:46.38 minutes, while the second and third places were taken by athletes from the Philippines.
Kirin still has one more event to compete in—the 10,000-meter race—and if successful, he will win gold in all three distances he entered.
