Thailand Pickleball Group conducted skills training for southern youth to promote the emerging sport to the national level and create opportunities on the international stage.
Thailand Pickleball Group is advancing the development of this new sport in Thailand by organizing a practical workshop to educate youth and university students about pickleball at the National Sports University, Trang Campus, on 9 December. The goal is to expand the player base across all regions and to donate equipment to support teaching, aiming to develop Thai athletes for international competition.
Ms. Thaya Tipsuwan, chairwoman of Thailand Pickleball Group, led the executive committee and experts to Trang Province to teach pickleball skills and rules to students. The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Wongphat Chudam, Vice President of the National Sports University, Trang Campus, held at Meeting Room 2 of the Faculty of Education and the volleyball gym on 9 December.
The training attracted over 60 participants, including junior and senior high school students from Trang Sports School and university students from three main faculties (Faculty of Education, Faculty of Sports Science, and Faculty of Liberal Arts) at the National Sports University. This project is a key initiative aimed at widely promoting pickleball for use in education and developing Thai youth's potential to reach international excellence. Expert instructors provided intensive theoretical and practical knowledge of pickleball.
In addition to on-field practice, the group donated pickleball equipment—20 paddles, 2 nets, and 24 balls—to the two participating schools for actual training use. Support was provided by generous partners including Conqueror Southeast Asia Co., Ltd. and Boxdrop Online Company Limited.
Ms. Thaya Tipsuwan expressed gratitude to educational administrators recognizing the importance of the new sport pickleball. She said, "Our goal is not just to introduce the sport but to build a strong foundation starting at the youth level and to provide equal access for all Thai children to pickleball, enabling them to develop towards international excellence." Thailand Pickleball Group plans to hold training activities for youth across all regions of Thailand.
