In the second event, women's singles, "May" Ratchanok Intanon, the tournament's second seed (world No. 8), aiming to win gold in her final SEA Games appearance, faced "May" Supanida Katethong, the third seed (world No. 12).
The two had met eight times before, with Ratchanok Intanon winning all encounters against Supanida Katethong, also known as "Lefty May."
In the first game, Supanida Katethong started strong, leading 11-4, but Ratchanok Intanon used her experience to come back and win 21-19, taking a 1-0 lead in games.
In the second game, Ratchanok intensified her play, not allowing "Lefty May" to turn the tide, scoring continuously to win 21-7 and clinching the match 2-0.
Thus, Ratchanok Intanon concluded her final SEA Games appearance beautifully, winning her second gold medal in this tournament and her first in women's singles, after previously winning four gold medals in women's team events in 2011 Indonesia, 2015 Singapore, 2019 Philippines, and 2025 Thailand.
