Thailands National Golf Team Makes History by Sweeping 4 Gold Medals at SEA Games 2025

Thailand's national golf team made history by sweeping 4 gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games.

On 14 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the golf competition at the 33rd SEA Games featured 4 gold medals contested across men's team, women's team, men's individual, and women's individual categories. The events ran from 11 to 14 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at Siam Country Club Rolling Hills, par 72, in Chonburi Province.

In the men's team event, Thailand entered the final day leading Indonesia by 12 strokes. The Thai team of “Fifa” Pongsapak Laophakdee (70), “Win” Thanawin Lee (68), “Ono” Warut Boonrod (75), and “Anfield” Prin Sarsamut (72) combined for 6 under par 210 on the last day, totaling 33 under par 831 over four days to claim gold. They finished 20 strokes ahead of Indonesia, while Vietnam took bronze at 7 under par 857.

In the men's individual category, Pongsapak Laophakdee, who began the day leading by 11 strokes, shot 2 under par 70 to finish four days at 21 under par 267, winning gold. He finished well ahead of second-place Minh Nguyen Anh of Vietnam at 10 under par 278, and bronze medalist Prin Sarsamut at 8 under par 280.

In the women's team event, the Thai team started the day leading Singapore by 19 strokes. Players “Prim” Prim Prachyanakorn (66), “Fai” Pimphisa Rungsong (68), and “Nad” Kritchanya Kaopattanasakul (74) combined for 10 under par 134 on the final day, finishing four days at 18 under par 558 to win gold. Singapore took silver at 17 over par 593, while Indonesia earned bronze at 19 over par 595.

In the women's individual category, Prim Prachyanakorn started the day 2 strokes behind and played a bogey-free 6 under par 66 on the final day, finishing four days at 9 under par 279 to claim gold. Silver went to Kritchanya Kaopattanasakul at 3 under par 285, and Pimphisa Rungsong placed third at even par 288. However, due to SEA Games rules prohibiting one nation from sweeping all three podium spots, the bronze medal was awarded to Le Xuc from Vietnam, who finished at 5 over par 293.

Pongsapak Laophakdee, gold medalist in men's individual and team events, said, “I played well today but the excitement caused a few mistakes. Finishing under par is satisfying. Even though the women's team scored 12 points, I told the juniors not to underestimate the competition, as similar situations have happened before. Credit goes to the team for their efforts this week. I also thank the President of the Golf Association of Thailand for continuous support and encouragement. Before the competition, he told us to do our best without pressure and bring home gold for the Thai people.”

Prim Prachyanakorn, women's individual gold medalist, shared, “Finishing six under today was very good. My approach shots were accurate this week, giving me many birdie putt chances. When I started two strokes behind, I focused on the team rather than individual standings. After the team won the championship, I gave my all, aiming to beat myself. I'm very happy and proud. Thanks to my parents, coach, and all supporters. Also, I appreciate Singha Corporation and the President of the Golf Association of Thailand for their ongoing support of the national team.”

In summary, Thailand's golf team won 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal at the 33rd SEA Games. This marks the first time in 10 years that the Thai golf team has swept all 4 gold medals since the 2015 SEA Games hosted by Singapore.
