On 16 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Jimmy Pikanet Sukyik, a Thai national kickboxing athlete competing in tatami point fighting in the 63-kilogram category, opened up tearfully after making history by winning his first SEA Games gold medal despite suffering a shoulder dislocation in the third round of the final.
In the final match, Jimmy Pikanet faced a harsh test when his shoulder dislocated mid-fight, but he showed a fighter's heart, rising to persevere until the end. He defeated Indonesian boxer Ariyanta Sitepu with a score of 14-7, claiming the SEA Games gold medal in a grand victory.
After the match, Pikanet shared his thoughts:
“I’m very happy because in the last round I was injured, something I never expected to face. But at that moment, I thought only that even if I had just one punch or one arm, I had to win.”
He also revealed the key motivation behind his determination: the support from the sports association, which gave him the strength not to give up.
“I was very determined to win the gold medal because the association has supported me all along. I’m very proud to have succeeded, and in the ring, I never thought about losing because I came to win gold for the Thai people.”
Additionally, Jimmy Pikanet delivered an important message to society regarding gender diversity clearly.
“Nowadays, gender identity doesn’t matter. Today I’ve proven that when we step into the ring, gender is just gender, because in the end, we’re just individuals fighting and showing our skills to win.”
