On 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Phetsuphan Lukhongpantao (also known as Phetsuphan Por Daorungruang or Chalorchai Meenildee), a Thai national boxer, told Thairath Sport after revealing shocking news that the result was fixed to make him lose so Malaysia could take the gold at the "SEA Games 2025," hosted by Thailand for the first time in 18 years.

At the draw for the Thai boxing 51 kg men’s semifinal at SEA Games 2025, Malaysia had a bye, while Phetsuphan Lukhongpantao unexpectedly lost on points 28-29 to Filipino boxer LJ Rafael Yasey, missing the chance to fight for the gold medal. He was confident he performed better but expressed frustration and said he was done with competing for the national team and preferred to turn professional.

After Phetsuphan Lukhongpantao revealed the shocking story of being forced to lose so Malaysia could win gold at the SEA Games 2025 on social media, he told the Thairath Sport team, "I trained for a full year starting with the training camp. I also competed professionally in other events to maintain my condition. Then I focused exclusively on the SEA Games 2025 training camp for two full months, barely going home to see my wife and child."

"Regarding the Malaysian coach who hinted at fixing the result, I was with friends at the hotel restaurant when this coach, whose name starts with 'Ch.', said he had previously worked in Thai boxing. He was close with the Thai coaching staff and athletes. He told me they would fix my match so Malaysia could win the championship, and that I should fight my best but avoid facing Malaysia in the final, as Malaysia had a bye. At first, I didn’t believe it and thought he was joking, and my friends nearby also didn’t expect it to be true."

"If you ask whether I will take any action now, I probably won’t, because no one from our side has contacted or informed me. No senior officials have explained anything; only some close people have comforted me. This was my first SEA Games and likely my last. From now on, I think we will just go our separate ways."
