
Thai weightlifting has now won a total of 9 gold medals, with the female powerlifters adding 2 more golds at the 2025 SEA Games.
On 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the weightlifting competition of the 33rd SEA Games took place on its fifth and final day at the Chonburi Provincial Sports School Gymnasium, contesting 3 gold medals.
At the event, Major General Lady Oranong Piyanatwachiraphat, Chairperson of the Advisory Board for the Project to Promote Sports for Thailand’s National Development under the Royal Patronage, presided over the medal ceremony for the women's 77 kg and over 77 kg categories.
The competition results are as follows:
Thailand’s national team fielded Ms. Chalida Tiangdee, who successfully lifted in all three snatch attempts at 90, 92, and 94 kg, and also completed all clean and jerk attempts at 110, 115, and 120 kg, achieving a total of 214 kg and earning the 8th gold medal for the Thai weightlifters.
The silver medal went to Alyamolida Kartika Pertivi from Indonesia with 206 kg total (snatch 91 kg, clean and jerk 115 kg), and the bronze to Thi Phuong Nguyen from Vietnam with 185 kg total (snatch 90 kg, clean and jerk 95 kg).
After the competition, Chalida said she was very happy to win the gold medal, as this was her first SEA Games and she felt very excited. Her results matched her training, and she plans to continue training, confident she can improve her performance.
Thailand’s representative, Ms. Duangaksorn Jaidee, competed by successfully lifting 105, 110, and 113 kg in snatch, and flawlessly completing 135, 140, and 145 kg in clean and jerk, totaling 258 kg. She secured the 9th gold medal for the Thai weightlifting team and defended her SEA Games title for the third consecutive time.
The silver medalist was Si Ro Pa from Vietnam with a total of 245 kg (snatch 105 kg, clean and jerk 140 kg).
The bronze went to Siti Aqilah Farhana Draman from Malaysia with 240 kg total (snatch 105 kg, clean and jerk 135 kg).
Following the event, Duangaksorn said she admitted having limited training time but was proud to defend her SEA Games title for the third time. Regarding her future plans next year, she said she will decide later as she currently has another role as a teacher and has not yet made any plans.
