
The Thai jet ski team won an additional championship on the second day of the 2025 Jet Ski World Championship at Jomtien Beach, Pattaya.
The "Thai Airways WGP One Waterjet World Cup 2025," combining the world, world series, and Asia championships, was held at Jomtien Beach, Pattaya, Chonburi. The second day of competition on 18 Dec 2024 GMT+7 focused on deciding champions in the junior and amateur categories.
In the women's 1,100 cc sit-down stock category (Women R/A1100 Stock), after two motos, Christine Kate Merchado of the Philippines led the points. In the final moto, she competed against Thai racers Ekuma Charoensuk and Sasina Phiangam, but Ekuma was forced to withdraw due to mechanical failure.
Merchado took an early lead with Sasina trying to catch up but falling short. The Filipino rider won the championship with 163 points, Sasina was runner-up with 146 points, and Chanapa Phonlamai placed third with 118 points.
In the novice standing ski stock category (Novice Ski Stock), four motos were held. Sam Wilson from the UK won three of the first motos and comfortably finished second in the last, while Andrew Vo from the USA won the final moto, and Wasim Roichi from Morocco placed third.
After all four motos, Wilson secured the championship with 233 points. Thai rider Intach Longniyom was runner-up with 188 points, and Roichi from Morocco took third with 185 points.
The novice sit-down stock category (Novice Runabout Stock) had three motos. The first two motos saw close points among Khalil Seddini from Morocco, Angelo Ventus from the Philippines, and Mohammed Wahid Aqila from Saudi Arabia heading into the final deciding moto.
However, all three underperformed in the final race. Ivan Kubabski from Russia won, followed by Iz Samissi from Malaysia, and Chakrin Noenhong of Thailand in third. After four motos, Ventus placed fourth overall but clinched the championship with 139 points. Wahid Aqila was runner-up with 132 points, and Seddini third with 128 points.
The junior 13-15 standing 4-stroke category (Junior 13-15 Ski 4 Stroke Lites) held four motos. After three motos, Sugar Sato from Japan led the standings but still had to contend for the title in the final moto against Chokchai Malaisri and Ali Alali from the UAE.
Ultimately, Sugar Sato showed strength by overtaking to finish first, followed by Chokchai and Ty Smith from the USA. After four motos, Sato won with 233 points, Chokchai was runner-up with 205 points, and Alali placed third with 192 points.
The junior 13-15 Spark stock category (Junior 13-15 Spark Stock) featured three motos contested between Laos's Wongsakorn Sawan and Miss Buanaporn Wongsuwan. Wongsakorn narrowly beat Buanaporn, with Thai rider Kanaporn Chuenarom finishing third.
However, after review, officials ruled that Wongsakorn cut a buoy, leading to a penalty that stripped his points. Consequently, Miss Buanaporn was awarded first place and the championship title, marking Thailand's third title in this event.
