Thai National Boxing Coach Declares Aim to Make History with 16 Gold Medals at SEA Games 2025

The "Thai National Boxing Coach" has announced an ambitious goal to make history by winning 16 gold medals at the "SEA Games 2025" after Thai boxers qualified for gold medal matches in 8 men's and 8 women's weight categories.


On 18 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Mariano Gonzalez Cosme, the Cuban head coach of Thailand's national boxing team for the SEA Games, declared his intent to sweep gold in 16 out of 17 weight classes, setting a historic mark for Thailand's amateur boxing. Thai boxers have qualified for gold medal bouts in 8 men's and 8 women's divisions. There were no competitions today to rest before the finals scheduled for tomorrow.

Mr. Mariano Gonzalez stated, "Ideally, I hoped to compete in all 17 weight classes, but it’s fine—we have 16 finalists, split between 8 men’s and 8 women’s divisions. Personally, I want to win gold in all 16 to make history for Thailand’s national amateur boxing. Ultimately, it depends on the boxers in the ring and their opponents on who performs better on finals day," the Cuban head coach said.

The Thai boxers who advanced to the finals in 16 weight classes are:

Women’s 48 kg: Thip Satja Yodwari vs. Lin Chi Ngoc (Vietnam)

Women’s 50 kg: Juthamat Raksat vs. Ira Vilgas (Philippines)

Women’s 54 kg: Natnicha Jongproengkang vs. Nabila Maharani (Indonesia)

Women’s 57 kg: Punravee Ruernrot vs. Nguyen Tran Nguen (Vietnam)

Women’s 60 kg: Apisada Thanthawa vs. Lin Hathi (Vietnam)

Women’s 63 kg: Thananya Samnuek vs. Huswatan Hasana (Indonesia)

Women’s 66 kg: Janjam Suwanpeng vs. Xiao Yu Leh Warden (Singapore)

Women’s 70 kg: Baisan Maneekon vs. Goc Mai Huong (Vietnam)

Men’s 48 kg: Thitiwat Polngurai vs. Jayliran (Philippines)

Men’s 51 kg: Thitisan Panmode vs. Vickitahumill (Indonesia)

Men’s 54 kg: Thanarat Saengphet vs. Flint Jara (Philippines)

Men’s 57 kg: Sarawut Sukthet vs. Van Dung Nguyen (Vietnam)

Men’s 60 kg: Sakda Ruamtham vs. Asri Udin (Indonesia)

Men’s 63.5 kg: Kunathip Pitnuch vs. Rai Mundo Gaio (Timor-Leste)

Men’s 69 kg: Banjong Sinsiri vs. Ji Wel Wanton (Singapore)

Men’s 75 kg: Weerapol Jongjor vs. Michael Robert (Philippines)

The finals on 19 December will start at 14:00 at the Chalermraj Sports Complex, 4th floor, Chulalongkorn University.
