Thai Tennis Wins First SEA Games Gold in 8 Years as Pratchaya and Maximus Face Off for 2025 Title

Thai tennis clinched its first SEA Games gold in 8 years as teammates Pratchaya and Maximus competed against each other to win the 2025 title.

On 18 December 2025, Thai tennis secured its first gold medal of the 33rd SEA Games in the men's doubles category. The final took place at the National Tennis Development Center in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province, featuring two Thai pairs competing against each other.

In the final, "Natt" Pratchaya Isaro and "Maxi" Maximus Phrapol Jones narrowly defeated "Junior" Vichaya Trongcharoenchaikul and "Mangpor" Phawit Sonlaksap 2-1 sets, with scores of 7-5, 3-6, and a super tiebreak of 10-4.

Pratchaya and Maximus took the gold medal, while Vichaya and Phawit earned silver. The bronze medals went to Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi and Christopher Rungkat from Indonesia, as well as Lucky Kurniawan and Ignatius Susanto, also from Indonesia.

This gold medal marks the first men's doubles SEA Games win for Thai tennis in 8 years, the last being in 2017 by the "Twin Brothers" Sanchat and Sanchai Ratiwat.

Prior to this, Thai tennis had already won three silver medals in men's team, women's team, and women's singles, plus one bronze in women's singles. With the men's doubles result included, Thailand's tennis tally now stands at one gold, three silvers, and one bronze.

Thai tennis still has three gold medal matches remaining: men's singles and mixed doubles, both contested between Thai players, and women's doubles against Indonesia. All three finals will take place on 19 December 2025.
