Thai National Futsal Team Nears Sixth Consecutive Championship with Win over Vietnam at 2025 SEA Games

The Thai national team is close to winning their sixth consecutive title after beating Vietnam and securing a full 9 points at the 2025 SEA Games futsal tournament.

On 18 Dec 2025 at 19:00 GMT+7, at Nonthaburi Stadium, the men's futsal competition of the 33rd SEA Games held its third match, with the Thai national team facing Vietnam.

Thailand entered with six points after previous wins over Malaysia and Myanmar, while Vietnam had 3 points from a loss to Malaysia and a win against Indonesia. Coach Miguel Rodrigo started with Natthapong Yimmaherb (GK), Worachak Srihangphairoj, Krit Aransanyalak, Itticha Praphapan (captain), and Amarin Aekapan.

Within 2 minutes, Thailand threatened with a long-range shot from Itticha Praphapan, but it was saved by Pham Van Tu.

Afterwards, both teams exchanged attacks. At the 7th minute, Vietnam had a chance from a long-range shot by Pham Duc Hoa, but Natthapong Yimmaherb made the save.

At 8 minutes, Thailand nearly took the lead on a counterattack. Narongsak Wingwon’s initial shot was saved, the rebound went to Apiwat Jamjaroen who passed to Muhammad Usman Musa, but his follow-up shot was also saved.

At the 13th minute, Thailand had another chance when Amarin Aekapan broke through but his shot was too slow and narrowly blocked.

At 15 minutes, Thailand went ahead 1-0 on a counterattack when Amarin Aekapan passed to Muhammad Usman Musa, who scored. The half ended with this score.

In the second half at 29 minutes, from a corner kick, Itticha Praphapan scored with a left-footed shot that deflected in, extending Thailand’s lead to 2-0.

At 30 minutes, Vietnam scored from a free kick by Nguyen Da Hai, narrowing the gap to 1-2.

Late in the game, Vietnam switched to power play but failed to break through Thailand’s defense. The match ended with Thailand winning 2-1, securing nine points from three games and maintaining top position, poised to claim their sixth consecutive SEA Games futsal title since the tournament began in 2007.
