Yotsakorn Burapha, striker for the Thailand national team, opened up after losing to Vietnam and missing out on the men's football championship at the 2025 SEA Games.
On 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, following Thailand's 2-3 loss to Vietnam in extra time of the 2025 SEA Games final, the team regrettably missed out on their 17th SEA Games gold medal.
Yotsakorn Burapha, who scored a beautiful free kick goal in the match, said, “We didn’t achieve our goal. It’s disappointing, especially since we played at home and didn’t win the championship. There’s nothing more to say except that it’s regrettable.”
“I’m disappointed not to make the team this time, but I still have another chance. In two years, I will work hard to improve myself and make the SEA Games team again. I want to win a gold medal before I’m too old.”
“When we led 2-0 in the first half, we played well. In the second half, we kept reminding each other, but we lost focus and conceded quickly.”
“I gave my best personally. Individual performance is another matter, but what we want is the championship. Unfortunately, we did not meet our target.”
Moving forward, the Thailand SEA Games team will hold a meeting to review their performance and plan preparations for upcoming tournaments, including the AFC U-23 Championship finals in Saudi Arabia from 6-24 January 2026 GMT+7.
