The Thai men's national sepak takraw team lost 1-2 to Vietnam, causing them to miss the singles team final at the ASEAN Games for the first time in 32 years.
On 20 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the sepak takraw competition at the 33rd ASEAN Games took place at the 4,000-seat gymnasium within the Nakhon Pathom Municipal Sports Center in Nakhon Pathom Province. In the men's singles semifinals, the Thai men's national team faced the Vietnamese men's national team.
The result was that the Thai men's team lost to Vietnam 1-2 sets, with scores of 13-15, 15-6, and 9-15. This outcome meant the young Thai sepak takraw team missed the chance to advance to the final, marking the first time since 1993 in Singapore that Thailand did not reach the final in this event.
This victory allowed the Vietnamese national team to advance to the gold medal match against the Malaysian men's national sepak takraw team. The final is scheduled for 12:00 noon Thai time.
