On the evening of 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, a historic moment was recorded in Thai volleyball history when the Thai men's national volleyball team fought with all their heart to narrowly defeat Indonesia 3-2 sets, securing the gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games. This victory ended an 8-year championship drought, surprising experts across ASEAN.

Catherine Catherine Magenti, interpreter for Coach Park Ki Won's Thai men's volleyball team, and Alfin Daniel, an Indonesian national volleyball player, took a photo together after the medal ceremony. Their smiles and friendly atmosphere prompted Indonesian media to jokingly comment, “When your loved one is on the opposing team, there's no way to win.”
The star struts! Philippines’ bronze medal hero
Another crowd-pleasing moment was when Josh Ibanez, libero of the Philippines national team, after tirelessly defending across the court to help his team come from behind to beat Vietnam, led his teammates onto the court to receive the 2025 SEA Games bronze medal. He strutted with diva-like flair as if walking a fashion runway, amid cheers and applause from the Thai volleyball fans in attendance.
