More than 11,000 runners from 30 countries worldwide took part in the Awaken Bangkok Midnight Marathon 2025.

Exceeding expectations, over 11,000 runners from 30 countries worldwide participated in the grand year-end Awaken Bangkok Midnight Marathon 2025. Christian Martinez, the endurance athlete from Spain representing Decathlon, claimed the overall championship, while "Kru Ton" Mongkol Kaewta was the top-performing Thai runner.

The Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) collaborated with RunRio and over ten government and private sector partners to organize the eighth Awaken Bangkok Midnight Marathon 2025, a grand nighttime marathon festival. The event exceeded expectations, launching from the Grand Clock Tower on Sanam Chai Road and finishing at Sao Chingcha, the city hall plaza in Bangkok, on 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7.

The event featured a lively atmosphere with more than 11,000 runners from over 30 countries competing in both the 21.1 km and 10 km distances. The route showcased many historic landmarks, offering a unique charm and fresh perspectives of Rattanakosin Island, running through the "heart of Bangkok." The event is also expected to generate economic activity exceeding 300 million baht.

Runners started at the Grand Clock Tower on Sanam Chai Road and passed significant historical sites in Bangkok, including the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Golden Mount Chedi, Loha Prasat, Wat Ratchanaddaram Worawihan, Democracy Monument, before heading toward the finish line at Sao Chingcha in the city hall plaza.

Additionally, the race has become a world-class road running event, receiving the World Athletics Road Race Label from World Athletics (WA) and certification of its course measurement to international standards from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The highlight of the competition was the 21.1 km distance, with runners passing historic landmarks amid an energetic nighttime atmosphere. The overall winner was Christian Martinez from Spain, representing Decathlon, who finished in 1:08:05. The best-performing Thai runner, "Kru Ton" Mongkol Kaewta, placed third overall with a time of 1:14:09.

This year’s "Awaken Bangkok Midnight Marathon 2025" was more than a race—it was a movement for the new generation, unveiling Bangkok from a fresh perspective under a modern design theme that expresses identity and uniqueness befitting a global metropolis. The official race kit for the 21.1 km featured the cool new concept "BKK NEW FACE," designed to energize runners to full speed, along with a Finisher T-Shirt that goes beyond the ordinary by declaring the new identity of today’s runners, and the legendary "YAK" Awaken Medal.
