Stunning ASEAN Nation Builds Worlds Largest Stadium

Vietnam is building the world's largest stadium, with a seating capacity of 135,000.

On 22 December 2025 GMT+7, Vietnam held a foundation-laying ceremony for a mega-project in the Olympic Sports City zone. The highlight is the construction of a prominent stadium with 135,000 seats, located south of Hanoi, the capital city. The project aims for completion by August 2028, with a total cost of 925 trillion Vietnamese dong (approximately 1.19 trillion baht), covering more than 57,000 rai.

Once completed, this stadium will become the largest in the world, surpassing North Korea's Rungrado 1st of May Stadium, which reportedly holds 114,000 seats. Currently, Vietnam's national football team plays at My Dinh Stadium, which seats around 40,000.

The project is intended to enhance Vietnam's sports capabilities and increase opportunities to host major events such as the Asian Games, the Olympics, and the FIFA World Cup.

Additionally, the Olympic Sports City project aims to boost Vietnam's economy and help position the country as a key global sports hub.
