Five Thai Schools Prepare for Asian Red Cross Student Rugby Tournament

Five Thai schools are preparing to compete in the Asian Red Cross Student Rugby Tournament for the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup on 10-11 January 2026 at Thupatemi Stadium.

“Big Ton,” Pol. Lt. Col. Kulthan Prajuabmoa, president of the Rugby Football Association of Thailand, is pushing forward after Thailand won two gold medals at the SEA Games. He is launching the 2026 season with the Asian-level 7-a-side student rugby competition organized by the Thai Red Cross Society on 10-11 January at the Royal Thai Air Force Sports Stadium (Thupatemi), which recently served as a standard venue for the SEA Games and received widespread praise. The teams will compete for the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup, bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The Rugby Football Association of Thailand under royal patronage, in partnership with the Thai Red Cross Society, is hosting the Asian Student 7-a-side Rugby Championship for the Thai Red Cross Society. The tournament for the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup will take place on 10-11 January 2026 at the Royal Thai Air Force Sports Stadium (Thupatemi).

The Thai school teams invited based on their rankings from the Thai 7-a-side Rugby Championship include, for the men's teams: Vajiravudh College, P.P.R. Rajavittayalai School, and the Armed Forces Preparatory School. For the women's teams: Rajaprajanugroh 66 School in Narathiwat Province and Triam Udom Suksa School in Surat Thani Province. The event aims to express loyalty and gratitude to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who continues royal duties and serves as patron and director of the Thai Red Cross Society. It also promotes the development of young Thai rugby athletes.

“Big Ton,” Pol. Lt. Col. Kulthan Prajuabmoa, president of the Rugby Football Association of Thailand, revealed that this is the fourth year the association has partnered with the Thai Red Cross Society. Mr. Khan Prajuabmoa, director of the Thai Red Cross Fundraising Office, leads the joint project. This year’s event is distinct as it features the Asian Student 7-a-side Rugby Championship, with representatives from schools in Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Qatar, Pakistan, India, and Laos participating.

“For Thailand, the top school teams from the national championship were selected as representatives. These five schools are among the leading youth rugby teams in Thailand. We believe all athletes will perform their best and aim for victory. We invite the parents of athletes from all five schools, as well as Thai rugby supporters, to come and cheer on the young Thai athletes. Meanwhile, on 13 January 2026, the Thai women's team, SEA Games gold medalists, will travel to compete in the World Series D3 tournament in the United Arab Emirates, featuring teams from Argentina, Colombia, Czech Republic, Mexico, Poland, Samoa, South Africa, and Thailand. We urge the public and rugby fans to follow and support them just as enthusiastically as the SEA Games Thai national team at Thupatemi Stadium,” Pol. Lt. Col. Kulthan said.
