The Thai Football Association has finalized its decision following the national teams' failure to win all four gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games.
On 26 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, led by Madam Pang Nualphan Lamsam, the association's president, successfully held the 13th Executive Board Meeting of 2025 (urgent agenda).
The meeting resolved to restructure the association’s technical department to address and improve all errors arising from missing the gold medal targets in all four sports: men's football, women's football, men's futsal, and women's futsal at the 33rd SEA Games 2025, hosted by Thailand.
The Football Association of Thailand has assigned Anthony Hudson, head coach of the senior national team, to help consider appointing a foreign technical director to take on this role.
The technical director’s main responsibilities will include laying the foundation for developing Thai national athletes, especially youth players, through continuous analysis, data processing, statistical evaluation of players on the field, and applying scientific methods.
Additionally, the technical director will work directly with Anthony Hudson, who has previously served as a technical director, to proactively develop training plans and playing styles that are consistent across all teams, including both men's and women's football.
The role will also involve advancing key association projects such as the FIFA TDS Talent ID program and organizing the under-17 youth league in collaboration with Coca-Cola for a three-year period (2026–2028 CE).
Furthermore, beyond appointing the technical director, the association will soon consider naming the head coach for the Thailand U20 men's national team to prepare for the future, starting with the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship U19 in June 2026, followed by the 2026 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers in August 2026.
