Two-Wheelers Select National Cyclists for First 2026 Thailand Championship Race to Compete in Asian Road Cycling in Saudi Arabia

"Two-Wheelers" select national cyclists, kicking off the first race of 2026 Thailand Championship to compete in the Asian Road Cycling Championship in Saudi Arabia.

On 1 December 2026, "Two-Wheelers" launched the first 2026 race, organizing road and mountain bike competitions for the Thailand Championship and the Royal Trophy. The first race will take place from 16-18 January 2026 at Vajiralongkorn Dam, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi. "Sergeant Major Muek" reminded road cyclists in the public, under-23, youth, and masters categories, both men and women, that strong performances may lead to selection for the Thai national team to compete in the 2026 Asian Road Cycling Championships in Saudi Arabia from 5-11 February 2026.

"Sergeant Major Muek," General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the Cycling Association of Thailand has partnered with Tha Khanun Subdistrict Municipality and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to organize the international mountain bike cross-country competition "2026 Thailand MTB Cup" on 14 January 2026. They will also hold road cycling competitions for the Thailand Championship contending for the "King Bhumibol" Royal Trophy, and mountain bike competitions for the Thailand Championship contending for the Royal Trophy of His Majesty the King, both first round events, from 16-18 January 2026 at Vajiralongkorn Dam, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi.

General Decha said the international mountain bike cross-country "2026 Thailand MTB Cup" is registered with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a C1 level international event on the 2026 calendar to earn world ranking points. Likewise, the first round of the 2026 Thailand Road Cycling Championship, registered with UCI as a national championship level (CN) event for both time trial and road race, allows cyclists to earn UCI world ranking points as well.

General Decha added that the Cycling Association will consider selecting outstanding male and female cyclists in the public, under-23, and youth categories to join the Thai national team for the 2026 Asian Road Cycling Championships in Saudi Arabia from 5-11 February 2026. For the public men’s and women’s categories, top performers from the 33rd SEA Games will form the core team. Additionally, the association will select outstanding masters cyclists aged 30 and over, both men and women, to represent the national masters team in the Asian Road Cycling Championships 2026.

"I urge cyclists of all ages and categories to prepare and train well. Those who perform strongly and stand out in the first race at Vajiralongkorn Dam may be considered for selection to the Thai national team for the 2026 Asian Cycling Championships in Saudi Arabia. Especially for youth, under-23, and masters categories, the national team coaches will primarily select athletes from this event," General Decha said.

"Sergeant Major Muek" further stated that the Cycling Association, together with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and Tha Khanun Subdistrict Municipality, will organize a health cycling event "Bike for Life - TCA GREEN CYCLING" on 16 January at 3:00 p.m. at Vajiralongkorn Dam. More than 300 local residents from Thong Pha Phum District have shown interest. Participants will receive certificates, health cycling T-shirts, water bottles, and safety items such as flashing lights and reflective stickers with the message "Drive Safely, Care for Fellow Travelers" to attach under their bike seats to help reduce accidents. Meanwhile, the Cycling Association and ThaiHealth recognize the dangers of e-cigarettes, which are as harmful as traditional cigarettes, and will hold an exhibition to educate cyclists about their risks as part of an anti-vaping campaign.

General Decha added that cyclists attending the first race can also enjoy local tourism in Thong Pha Phum District, including visiting Vajiralongkorn Dam, a popular spot to admire the dam’s crest; walking on Khao Laem Skywalk, a landmark of the dam; paying respects to the preserved body of the famous monk Luang Pu Sai at Wat Tha Khanun for blessings; participating in morning almsgiving at Luang Pu Sai Suspension Bridge every Saturday and Sunday; visiting the preserved body of Luang Pho Uttama at Wat Wang Wiwekaram in Sangkhla Buri District; admiring the beauty of the Mon Bridge, Thailand’s longest wooden bridge; exploring the well-known Kring Kravia Waterfall; and visiting the Three Pagodas Pass at the western Thai border. Tourists can also purchase local souvenirs to take home.

Mr. Prathet Boonyong, Mayor of Tha Khanun Subdistrict Municipality, expressed his gratitude to General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Cycling Association of Thailand, for honoring the municipality as host of the international mountain bike and Thailand Championship road and mountain bike races first round. He said the municipality is fully prepared to host the event, with competition venues and accommodations ready for athletes from all over. He urged those who have not booked accommodations to do so quickly as most places are nearly full. On behalf of the people of Thong Pha Phum District, he warmly welcomes all cyclists, both foreign and Thai, which will help promote the district’s many attractions, food, and hot springs, thereby greatly boosting the local economy.
