On 3 January 2026, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with Kamphaeng Phet province, held the KAMPHAENGPHET GLOW NIGHT COUNTDOWN 2026 festival to mark the end of the old year and welcome 2026. The event took place from 28 December 2025 to 1 January 2026 at the Thai Cultural Conservation Plaza, Sirijit Park, Kamphaeng Phet. With the Northern region theme “Season of North: Immediate Joy…This Season, The Northern Season,” it showcased the charm and identity of Northern Thailand to attract tourists to experience the culture and community way of life, promoting tourism and the economy during late December annually. The opening ceremony was honored by Mr. Chatip Rujanseree, Governor of Kamphaeng Phet, as the chair, along with Second Lieutenant Panuwat Kadnak representing the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mr. Phai Lik, President of Kamphaeng Phet Sports Association and President of the Kickboxing Sports Association, and heads of provincial government agencies attending. Highlights included lighting displays featuring Northern Thai fabric patterns, expressing community identity through traditional textiles that reflect wisdom, lifestyle, and family love. This includes the “Mother’s Sarong,” a cherished cloth woven, selected, and passed down by mothers, symbolizing love, care, and Thai cultural belief that the “mother’s sarong edge” serves as a sacred talisman protecting Thai soldiers and those facing danger, representing pure love, gratitude, and maternal strength.
The event created a grand celebratory atmosphere, with over 10,000 attendees expected. It left a strong impression on both Thai and international tourists and elevated Kamphaeng Phet province as a sustainable new tourist destination.
