Thailand is preparing to host the 13th ASEAN Para Games from 20-26 January 2026 in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The event will feature 19 sports: athletics, archery, badminton, 5-a-side football, boccia, international chess, cycling, 7-a-side football, goalball, judo, weightlifting, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball, shooting, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair tennis, and bowling, competing for a total of 493 gold medals.
Recently, Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), stated that the 13th ASEAN Para Games will be exciting and highly competitive. This is because four sports—athletics, swimming, weightlifting, and cycling—will serve as qualification platforms for athletes aiming to participate in the 5th Asian Para Games, held from 18-24 October 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Therefore, this ASEAN Para Games carries significant excitement and importance.
“I am confident that all ASEAN member countries, especially strong contenders like Indonesia, will place great importance on the ASEAN Para Games in Thailand and send large teams to compete. For Thailand, we will be fully committed to defending our position as the top gold medal winner and securing qualification in the four sports to participate in the Asian Para Games, although this will not be an easy task,” said the SAT Governor.
