
P.P.R. clinched two consecutive wins in the Asian School Rugby Sevens Championship for the Thai Red Cross.
The Asian School Rugby Sevens Championship for the Thai Red Cross, competing for the royal trophy presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, took place from 10-11 Jan 2026 at the Air Force Sports Stadium (Thupatemi). Net proceeds after expenses will support victims affected by the Thai-Cambodian border situation. The men's competition featured eight teams, while the women's included five teams from six countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Taiwan, India, and Pakistan.
On 10 Jan, the first round of matches took place, attended by Pol. Lt. Col. Kulthan Prauapmoa, President of the Rugby Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and Adm. Pakkrong Monthatpholin, the association’s secretary-general. P.P.R. Rajavidyalaya, in Group A, performed excellently with two wins: beating Taiwan 26-14 and Pakistan 48-0. In Group B, Vajiravudh School defeated Military Preparatory School 14-12 but lost to Malaysia 10-30. The Military Preparatory School lost to both Vajiravudh and India, 5-7.
In the women's competition, five teams played a round-robin format with the top two advancing to the final, and the third and fourth places competing for third place. Thailand was represented by two schools: Rajaprajanugroh 66 from Narathiwat and Triam Udom Suksa Phatthana from Surat Thani.
Regarding results, Rajaprajanugroh 66 Narathiwat lost to Triam Udom Suksa Phatthana Surat Thani 10-22, then drew with Malaysia 12-12, and won against Laos 53-5. Meanwhile, Triam Udom Suksa Phatthana Surat Thani beat Rajaprajanugroh 66 Narathiwat 22-10, won over Laos 38-10, but lost to India 21-29.
