Pahang-Kalinga Dominates, Wins Thai Red Cross School Students Rugby 7s Championship

"Pahang-Kalinga" showed great strength to win the Rugby 7s championship for Thai Red Cross school students.

Mr. Khan Prajuabmoh, Director of the Fundraising Office of the Thai Red Cross Society, presided over the opening ceremony of the Asian Rugby 7s Championship for Red Cross school students, competing for the Royal Cup bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The event took place at the Air Force Sports Stadium (Thupatemee). Also present were Police Lieutenant Colonel Kulthan Prajuabmoh, President of the Rugby Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and Admiral Pakorn Monthathoplin, Secretary-General of the Association.

The Asian Rugby 7s Championship for Red Cross school students featured 8 men's teams and 5 women's teams from six countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Taiwan, India, and Pakistan. Net proceeds after expenses will be contributed to help victims affected by the Thai-Cambodian border situation.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kulthan Prajuabmoh, President of the Rugby Football Association of Thailand, stated he hopes for greater youth development. He noted that Asian school teams like Malaysia have progressed well, revealing the capabilities of 17-18 year olds. The shift from 15-a-side to 7-a-side rugby, which is currently popular and exciting, is an international-level game where athletes play for Thailand's honor. Net proceeds after expenses will be donated to the Thai Red Cross for social aid activities, including support related to this year’s southern floods and the Thai-Cambodian border conflict.

"I always support those serving at the border, whether police or military. Without them, how could we live? I want to commend them and express condolences to those who lost their lives in the Thai-Cambodian border incidents," said Police Lieutenant Colonel Kulthan Prajuabmoh.

In the men's final, Pahang Malaysia Sports School faced Por.Por.Ror. Rajawittayalai School. Pahang took an early lead at 12-0 points. Por.Por.Ror. fought back to 5-12 by halftime, but Malaysia played stronger in the second half. Por.Por.Ror. had some chances but couldn't catch up, ending with Pahang Malaysia Sports School winning 27-17 points.

In the women's final, the Kalinga Institute of School Science from India played faster and better, defeating Rajaprajanugroh 66 School from Narathiwat Province 20-10 points.
