Thai Para Team Aims for 233 Gold Medals Sports Authority Confident to Reclaim ASEAN Para Games Crown

The Thai para team aims to win 233 gold medals, with the Sports Authority of Thailand confident of reclaiming the ASEAN Para Games championship.

Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, expressed confidence in the potential of the national para athletes to win 233 gold medals across 19 sports and 493 events, aiming to reclaim the top gold medal position at the 13th ASEAN Para Games. Athletics and swimming have the highest targets, each aiming for 61 gold medals.

Updates on the Thai national para athletes ahead of the 13th ASEAN Para Games from 20-26 January 2026 in Nakhon Ratchasima Province show that Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), is confident the Thai team will secure the gold medal leader title for the seventh time.

The SAT Governor stated that preparations for hosting are fully ready on all fronts. Regarding the Thai athletes’ ambitions, there is a clear goal to reclaim the ASEAN Para Games gold medal leader title. Based on assessments with all sports associations, it is expected the Thai para team will win 233 gold medals out of 19 sports and 493 events, detailed as follows.

Archery 5 gold medals; Athletics and wheelchair racing 61 gold medals; Badminton 7 gold medals; Boccia 5 gold medals; Football 5-a-side (blind) 1 gold medal; Football 7-a-side (intellectually disabled) 1 gold medal; International chess 3 gold medals; Cycling 14 gold medals (3 track, 11 road); Goalball 2 gold medals; Judo 2 gold medals; Weightlifting 7 gold medals; Shooting 9 gold medals; Swimming 61 gold medals; Bowling 13 gold medals; Table tennis 21 gold medals; Sitting volleyball 1 gold medal; Wheelchair basketball 4 gold medals; Wheelchair fencing 11 gold medals; Wheelchair tennis 5 gold medals.

Competition venues in Nakhon Ratchasima Province include: Chalerm Phrakiat 80th Birthday Anniversary Sports Center, 5 December 2007, hosting athletics, badminton, boccia, football 5-a-side (blind), track cycling, shooting, swimming, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair tennis; Suranaree University of Technology hosting road cycling; The Mall Livestore Korat hosting judo and wheelchair fencing.

Terminal 21 Korat will host wheelchair basketball; Center Point Hotel Korat will host weightlifting; Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University will host football 7-a-side (intellectually disabled) and international chess; Central Korat will host table tennis; Wongsawadikul University will host archery and goalball. In Bangkok, Blue O Rhythm and Bowl (Esplanade Ratchada) will host bowling.

Fans wishing to attend the 13th ASEAN Para Games can book tickets onsite at the venues by registering at the check-in points, adding the LINE account @paragames, selecting the sport and match to watch, following the identity verification process, and presenting their ID card for inspection.
