The King Bestows Royal Water for the Funeral of Teacher Janjam Yuiyim - Buakaw Joins in Mourning

The King bestowed royal water for the funeral of "Teacher Janjam Yuiyim." Major General Nirinthon represented Dr. Sutin Klangsaeng as a co-host for the Buddhist memorial prayers. Buakaw also joined in mourning.


On 22 January 2026 at the funeral hall of Wat Nong Ri in Phanom Sarakham District, Chachoengsao Province, the funeral rites for Teacher Janjam Yuiyim, aged 78, were held with solemnity and honor. This followed the King's gracious bestowal of royal water for the funeral, along with honorary decorations and an engraved gold coffin, an immeasurable royal kindness to the family.

On the evening of 22 January 2026, Dr. Sutin Klangsaeng, President of the Thai Military Sports Promotion Association and former Minister of Defense, appointed Major General Nirinthon Punnothok, Secretary-General of the association, to represent him as co-host of the Buddhist memorial prayers. Accompanying him was Mr. Wankla Kwan-kaew, President of the Online Sports Reporters Association and committee member of the Thai Military Sports Promotion Association.

Prominent individuals from various sectors, including senior government officials, business, and sports, attended to pay their respects and lay wreaths in large numbers. Among them were Colonel Premin Rajaritborirak, senior royal household officer; Mr. Sutthipong and Dr. Wandi Chulcharoen, former Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry; Dr. Wanida Phansaad, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports; Mr. Thanat Taweekueakij, Assistant Minister of Transport; Thapanee Kiatripiboon, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand; Professor Dr. Sunet Chutintharanon, Director of the Center for Multicultural Studies and Social Innovation at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University; and Assistant Professor Dr. Suriyajarat Techatanminskul, Vice President of Maejo University.

From the private sector, senior executives expressed condolences, including Mr. Supakit Charoenwong, Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group; Mr. Purit Pirompakdee, CEO of Boon Rawd Brewery Company Limited; Piti and Waranuch Pirompakdee; Ms. Yupadee Wangtaweesap, Senior Deputy Managing Director of CPF; and Mr. Suebtaroon Suntorntham, Vice Chairman of Loxley Public Company Limited.

Also present were notable sports figures such as Assistant Professor Pimon Sriwikrom, President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand; Buakaw Banchamek, world-renowned Muay Thai champion; Bin Banluerit; Lieutenant General Phonsak and Mrs. Supapak Sriphen, Director of the Army Tourism and Sports Promotion Office; along with senior police and government officials including Police Lieutenant General Jirapop Puridet, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police; Police Lieutenant General Rungroj Thakoorpunyasiri, Commander of the Border Patrol Police; Lieutenant General Yodawut Phuengphak, Deputy Commander of the 1st Army Area; Lieutenant General Nat Srinn, Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Area; Police Major General Anan Nanasombat, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 7; Police Major General Songprod Sirisuk, Commander of Immigration Division 3; and a group of students from the 1st Army Security Administration Course at the Army War College who joined in paying respects to the departed soul.

The royal cremation ceremony is scheduled for 24 January 2026 at 16:00 at the funeral hall of Wat Nong Ri, Chachoengsao Province.
