UNFPA, Thai Olympic Committee, and HiSoParty Join Forces to Protect Thai Athletes from Harassment and Violence

UNFPA has partnered with the Thai Olympic Committee and HiSoParty Magazine to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that elevates "Safeguarding in Sport" to protect Thai athletes from all forms of harassment and violence.

On 27 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Thai Olympic Committee, and HiSoParty Magazine

jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to announce a new collaboration promoting Safeguarding in Sport standards aimed at protecting athletes and sports personnel from harassment, abuse, and all forms of violence within the sports context.

The signing ceremony and press conference were held at the Thai Olympic Committee, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Pimol Srivikorn, Chairperson of the Thai Olympic Committee,

honored to attend and express support for advancing safety, equality, and human dignity in Thailand’s sports community.

Representatives signing the MOU included Ms. Sirilak Chiangwong, Head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Thailand Office; Dr. Suwanna Silpa-archa, Vice President of the Thai Olympic Committee and Chair of the Gender Equality and Safeguarding Commission in Sports; and Ms. Priyamol Thanavisut, Editor-in-Chief of HiSoParty Magazine.

This MOU collaboration aims to develop and enhance systems to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and harassment in sports through joint efforts across policy, governance, public communication, and societal engagement.

UNFPA will provide support in knowledge, international best practices, and technical advice to promote a survivor-centered approach to athlete protection.

Meanwhile, the Thai Olympic Committee, through its Gender Equality and Safeguarding Commission in Sports, will play a key role in coordinating with sports organizations and driving ethical and safety standards into practical application.

HiSoParty Magazine will support public communication to raise broad awareness, promote ethical sports values, and encourage society to recognize the importance of creating a safe and dignified sports environment for all.

This MOU signing marks a significant step for Thai sports in clearly taking a stand against all forms of violence and collaboratively building concrete athlete protection systems, making sports a safe space for everyone—from youth to professional and national levels.
