
The government has provided over 144 million baht in prize money to the Thai national para athletes, delivered directly to every athlete immediately.
On 3 Feb 2026, Ms. Natriya Taweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, presided over the prize-giving ceremony to congratulate athletes, coaches, sports associations, and officials who participated in the 13th ASEAN Para Games, the 5th Asian Youth Para Games, and international competitions (World and Asian Championships) at the 8th floor of The Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel.
Also attending were Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand; Maj. Gen. Osot Phawilai, President of the ASEAN Disabled Sports Federation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supit Samahito, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand; Mr. Montri Hanjai, Executive Committee Member of the National Sports Development Fund; Gen. Dr. Suphamanas Pharop, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Project Performance of the National Sports Development Fund; Mr. Jiruth Israngkul Na Ayudhya, Chairman of the Welfare Subcommittee of the National Sports Development Fund; Mr. Maitri Kongruang, President of the Paralympic Sports Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage; and Mr. Tanukiart Janchum, Manager of the National Sports Development Fund.
The Thai national para team delivered outstanding performances in three major events: the 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand; the 5th Asian Youth Para Games in the United Arab Emirates; and international competitions (World and Asian Championships).
At the 13th ASEAN Para Games, the Thai para athletes were top gold medalists with 175 golds, 155 silvers, and 156 bronzes, earning a total prize money of 128,280,000 baht, distributed as follows:
- Paralympic Sports Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage: 124 golds, 101 silvers, 101 bronzes, totaling 83,460,000 baht.
- Thailand Blind Sports Association: 23 golds, 27 silvers, 35 bronzes, totaling 22,060,000 baht.
- Thailand Intellectual Disability Sports Association: 19 golds, 9 silvers, 8 bronzes, totaling 11,755,000 baht.
- Thailand Cerebral Palsy Sports Association: 9 golds, 18 silvers, 12 bronzes, totaling 11,005,000 baht.
At the 5th Asian Youth Para Games, the Thai youth para team finished 4th in Asia with 36 golds, 36 silvers, and 33 bronzes, receiving prize money divided among associations as follows:
- Paralympic Sports Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage: 7,350,000 baht.
- Thailand Cerebral Palsy Sports Association: 1,612,500 baht.
- Thailand Intellectual Disability Sports Association: 1,575,000 baht.
- Thailand Blind Sports Association: 337,500 baht.
In international competitions (World and Asian Championships), three sports associations participated in eight events, receiving total prize money as follows:
- Paralympic Sports Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage: 3,988,750 baht.
- Thailand Cerebral Palsy Sports Association: 750,000 baht.
- Thailand Blind Sports Association: 325,000 baht.
Ms. Natriya Taweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, stated on behalf of the government and Thai people, congratulations and admiration to all Thai national para athletes for their excellent achievements that bring honor and pride to the nation. This success marks a historic chapter in Thai sports, reflecting the potential, dedication, and sacrifice of athletes, coaches, and all involved.
The government prioritizes supporting sports in all dimensions, aiming for systematic development from the grassroots to sustainable excellence. She thanked all sectors supporting national sports and encouraged all athletes to continue improving their potential for even greater success.
