Recovered! Police have apprehended the suspect who stole phones from the Buriram futsal player and found he has mental health issues.
Buriram City Police arrested a man who stole phones from female futsal players during the Khon Buriram Games. The suspect was found to have mental health problems and committed multiple offenses.
On 9 February 2026, female futsal players representing Buriram province had three mobile phones stolen, valued at nearly 100,000 baht, at Buriram Pittayakhom School, the venue for the 45th National Student Sports Competition "Khon Buriram Games" 2026.
Recently, Police Colonel Jamrat Siriliang, chief of Buriram City Police, and officers successfully arrested the suspect. The thief had thrown all three phones into a pond near the crime scene, causing the GPS signals to be lost, before going on to steal food from shops preparing orders for delivery riders, until his arrest.
Investigation revealed the man suffers from mental instability and has a pattern of stealing from various locations, starting from Nakhon Pathom province and continuing to Buriram.
Authorities will now transfer the suspect to Buriram Provincial Court for legal proceedings.
