Mayor Tee Delighted as Phatthana Nikhom District Bustles with Cyclists Competing in Thailand Open, Ready to Host Major Events

Mayor Tee, Mr. Surasak Jermsombut, Mayor of Khao Phraya Dern Thong Subdistrict, expressed his delight at the lively activity in Phatthana Nikhom District as cyclists competed in the Thailand Open. He is prepared to continue hosting major events.


On 14 February 2026, Mayor Tee, Mr. Surasak Jermsombut, expressed his joy as cyclists from all over the country gathered to compete in the two-wheeled Thailand Open, contesting for the 2026 Royal Trophy in the first stage. This event energized the economy in Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province, and effectively promoted tourism. He also announced preparations to host the third stage of the national road and mountain bike championships for the Royal Trophy from 6-8 March 2026. Meanwhile, Mr. Watcharapong Sangkhasorn and Miss Suratsaya Wongphan, two youth cyclists of Thailand’s national team for the 2026 Asian Championships, won the youth category.


The Thailand Open mountain bike and road cycling championships for the Royal Trophy, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, took place at Khao Phraya Dern Thong Subdistrict Municipality, Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province, on 14-15 February 2026. The opening ceremony for the mountain bike race on 14 February was presided over by Mr. Thanat Ajinkit, District Chief of Phatthana Nikhom. Attending were Captain Thitaporn Noirak, Secretary General of the Cycling Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, representing General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand. Also present were Mr. Surasak Jermsombut, Mayor of Khao Phraya Dern Thong, and other local officials.


Mayor Tee, Mr. Surasak Jermsombut, stated that the Khao Phraya Dern Thong Municipality is pleased to co-host the Thailand Open mountain bike and road cycling championships, first stage for the Royal Trophy. The main goal is to stimulate the economy in Phatthana Nikhom District. With over 1,000 athletes and followers visiting, local businesses such as accommodations, restaurants, OTOP products, and community markets like Nong Kradi saw increased income.


Mr. Surasak added that the cycling competition also strongly promotes tourism. Phatthana Nikhom boasts many beautiful attractions, including the viewpoint atop Khao Phraya Dern Thong and the Pasak Cholasit Dam. Importantly, Lopburi Province is currently hosting the grand annual King Narai the Great Festival 2026 from 13-22 February at Phra Narai Ratchaniwet Palace, celebrating the prosperity of King Narai’s reign and featuring citywide Thai costume events. Cyclists and visitors are invited to enjoy these festivities.


"Following this, Khao Phraya Dern Thong Municipality will prepare to co-host the national road cycling championships for the 'King Bhumibol' Royal Trophy and the mountain bike championships for the Royal Trophy of His Majesty the King, third stage, from 6-8 March," said Mr. Surasak. "Governor Weeraphong Ritrod of Lopburi and District Chief Thanat Ajinkit fully support these events. We warmly invite cyclists nationwide to experience the beautiful atmosphere here, where the people of Lopburi welcome all visitors with great pleasure."


The first stage of the Thailand Open mountain bike race (51 km) was broadcast live on Facebook Live via the Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as on YouTube via TCA Channel, garnering over 16,000 views. The notable results included the following winners.


Men’s Open category: 1st place Mr. Montrit Theerateep with a time of 1:36:41; 2nd place Sergeant Major Jatupoom Lekwat of Four Heavens team in 1:39:48; 3rd place Asst. Sgt. Phuwadol Kotprom of Herobike Thermaltake Bicycle team in 1:43:26.


Women’s Open category: 1st place Ms. Raphatporn Jirapiboonkrit of PUM BIKE HOPINN SPECIALIZED LOPBURI team in 2:05:42; 2nd place Ms. Phumrat Chalermkit of Fisherman Friend Wat Dong Noi team in 2:08:13; 3rd place Ms. Petchlada Mankong of Fisherman Friend Wing 46 team in 2:09:35.


Girls under-18 category: 1st place Miss Suratsaya Wongphan, Thai national youth cyclist for the 2026 Asian Championships from Fisherman Friend Wat Dong Noi, Sattha Samut Songkhram School, in 2:13:46; 2nd place Ms. Punyapat Krunasung of MARS Cycling Team in 2:16:50; 3rd place Miss Sirapatsorn Srisai of Fisherman Friend Wat Dong Noi, Thawaranukul Samut Songkhram School, in 2:21:46.


Boys 17-18 category: 1st place Mr. Patthanan Srirueang of Bamboo Bicycle Club Ratchaburi/Bunny Family Club in 1:44:53; 2nd place Mr. Detukrit Kanha of Kanthararom School, Sisaket Province, Chaoyang OKO team, in 1:52:44; 3rd place Mr. Surasak Wongwikan of Bamboo Bicycle Club Ratchaburi/Bunny Family Club in 2:03:39.


Boys 15-16 category: 1st place Mr. Watcharapong Sangkhasorn, Thai national youth cyclist for the 2026 Asian Championships from Fisherman Friend Wing 46 Phitsanulok, in 1:48:58; 2nd place Mr. Atikun Santa of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai in 1:58:47; 3rd place Master Pun Punyanuparp of Bamboo Bicycle Club Ratchaburi/Bunny Family Club in 2:02:28.


Boys 13-14 category: 1st place Master Phatcharapong Sangkhasorn of Fisherman Friend Wing 46 Phitsanulok in 1:59:14; 2nd place Master Anon Milad of Bamboo Bicycle Club Ratchaburi/Bunny Family Club in 2:00:35; 3rd place Master Tin Boonsong of Mae Kim Lai, Tha Yang in 2:03:04. The road cycling segment of the Thailand Open national championship, first stage, took place on Sunday, 15 February. The opening ceremony began at 07:30, presided over by Mr. Weeraphong Ritrod, Governor of Lopburi Province. The race started at 08:00, following a route from Khao Phraya Dern Thong Municipality through Soi 16 Sai 2, then onto Highway 5042, turning left at Khok Salung intersection, continuing on Highway 21, looping back to turn left at the Manow Wan intersection, finishing at the 270-degree viewpoint atop Khao Phraya Dern Thong over a distance of 61 km. The event was broadcast live on Facebook Live via the Thailand Cycling Association and on YouTube via TCA Channel from 07:30 onwards.
