Summary: 1,800 runners were left stranded by the "Khao Yai Wild Breeze Run 2026," causing a major social media controversy at this time.
Yesterday (14 Feb 2026), many runners raised concerns on their personal social media and various pages about the Khao Yai Wild Breeze Run 2026. This highlighted two-day, one-night event combined running, trail walking to explore nature, night safari wildlife watching, and camping. Meals were provided in the morning and evening, plus a grand prize of a popular car model. The registration fee was 999 baht, and 1,800 runners traveled to participate.
The event featured two race distances: a 5 km Fun Run and a 10 km Mini Marathon, held at the tent camping ground and scenic viewpoint at Khao Rom, Khao Yai National Park. On the morning of 15 Feb 2026, it was uncertain if the event would proceed as scheduled, since there was no readiness in venue setup, starting point, signage, insufficient accommodation, and incomplete distribution of shirts and running equipment as promised by organizers, leading to the event's collapse.
Many runners expressed frustration over the issue, saying things like “This was my first time running and I got stood up, I want to cry,” “They should have canceled before the event day, not on the day when people are already there. We spent on transport and fuel, but only the registration fee is being refunded,” and “They advertised heavily for months and had plenty of time to organize. If one week before the event things weren’t ready, they should have canceled then. But they kept posting updates just one day before. It’s unfair to those who wasted effort, time, and money traveling.”
Mr. Chaiya Huayhongthong, head of Khao Yai National Park, stated that the organizers did apply for permission to hold the marathon event at the park on 14-15 February 2026, which the Office of Conservation Area Administration Region 1 approved.
However, problems arose because the organizers failed to comply fully with the measures they had promised the park, including being unable to provide adequate facilities or sufficient accommodation for the 1,800 participants as agreed.
This led to the event being abandoned, causing distress for participants and resulting in complaints. The park authorities coordinated with police from Nakhon Nayok Police Station to take action, instructing runners to report to investigators to file official complaints for legal proceedings.
Most recently, the official Facebook page "Khao Yai Wild Breeze Run 2026" posted: “Official announcement regarding the cancellation of the Khao Yai Wild Breeze Run 2026. The organizers hereby inform the cancellation of the event as originally scheduled.”
“Due to unforeseen circumstances and certain management limitations that could affect the quality and standards of the event, and to maintain safety and quality, the organizers must cancel this event. We apologize to all registrants, sponsors, and related agencies for not being able to proceed as planned.”
“Regarding registration fees, the team will refund all registrants in batches according to registration order and will announce procedures and timelines clearly within three days. We thank everyone for their trust and support and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Khao Yai Wild Breeze Run 2026 Team.”
