Mueang Chalawan Ready to Host Grand Thailand Cycling Championship Round 2

"Mueang Chalawan" is ready to hold the Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Championship Round 2 competing for the Royal Trophy.

"Mueang Chalawan" is set to host the Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Championship Round 2 from 20-22 February 2026. Ms. Thaniya Naipinit, Governor of Phichit Province, will honor the event as the opening ceremony chairperson for the time trial competition on Friday, 20 February 2026, at the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track (Bueng Sifa). Meanwhile, residents of Wang Thap Sai Subdistrict, Sak Lek District, are preparing their world-famous Nam Dok Mai mangoes and various other mango varieties to sell to cyclists and followers at affordable prices.

General Decha Hemkrasri, Deputy President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the Cycling Association of Thailand, in cooperation with Phichit Province, Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, and Wang Thap Sai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, will hold the Thailand Road Cycling Championship competing for the "King Bhumibol" Royal Trophy and the Mountain Bike Championship competing for the King's Royal Trophy for 2026 Round 2 in Phichit Province from 20-22 February. The road race will be held at the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track within the Bueng Sifa Chalerm Phra Kiat Project, while the mountain bike race will take place at the Khao Din viewpoint in Wang Thap Sai Subdistrict, Sak Lek District.

General Decha stated that the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track around Bueng Sifa Chalerm Phra Kiat measures 10.28 kilometers per lap. After His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen graciously inaugurated the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track on 23 March 2024, the Cycling Association of Thailand has continuously organized cycling events there. This is an immeasurable royal benevolence at both national championship and international levels. The venue also hosted the 2025 Asian Road Cycling Championship from 7-16 February 2025 and was praised by foreign cyclists and judges as the most beautiful and safest lake circuit. Although the route is flat, challenges include various curves and strong winds, requiring riders to use specific skills and techniques.

General Decha added that recently, Phichit Province Governor Ms. Thaniya Naipinit has instructed all relevant government agencies and local administrative organizations to be fully prepared. Additionally, the governor will preside over the opening ceremony of the road cycling time trial on Friday, 20 February, at 8:30 a.m. at the Bird Observatory within Bueng Sifa. The event will be live-streamed on Facebook Live via the Thailand Cycling Association and on YouTube via the TCA Channel starting at 8:30 a.m. It is expected that over 500 cyclists and more than 1,000 supporters will participate in Round 2, which will help stimulate the local economy and promote tourism in Phichit Province.

Regarding the mountain bike track at the Khao Din viewpoint in Wang Thap Sai Subdistrict, Sak Lek District, it is a certified standard course that has previously hosted international competitions. The cross-country route is considered one of the most beautiful, passing through golden Nam Dok Mai mango orchards and areas with fossilized tree remains millions of years old. Cyclists who have experienced the mountain bike course in Wang Thap Sai in past years unanimously praise it as excellent, fun, and challenging. Meanwhile, locals are preparing to sell Nam Dok Mai mangoes and various other mango types to cyclists and the general public at reasonable prices, General Decha said.

General Decha further noted that for Round 2, the Cycling Association of Thailand, together with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), Phichit Province, and Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, will organize the “Bike for Life-TCA GREEN CYCLING” health cycling activity on Saturday, 21 February, at the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track, covering 10.28 kilometers. The TCA GREEN CYCLING project supports green sports activities focusing on environmental conservation, pollution reduction, waste minimization, and combating global warming. At the same time, the Cycling Association of Thailand and ThaiHealth are aware of the dangers and rising use of e-cigarettes among youth, so they are campaigning against e-cigarette smoking. An exhibition will be held to inform cyclists about the harms of e-cigarettes. This event will be live-streamed on Facebook Live via the Thailand Cycling Association and on YouTube via the TCA Channel starting at 2:30 p.m.

Ms. Thaniya Naipinit, Governor of Phichit Province, stated that on behalf of Phichit, she thanks General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Cycling Association of Thailand, for the opportunity for Phichit to serve as host of the Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Championships for the fourth consecutive year. This has improved Phichit's economy and boosted tourism. It is expected that a significant amount of money will flow into Phichit Province. Importantly, live broadcasts via Facebook Live and YouTube have increased awareness of Phichit, helping to promote key tourist attractions to the public. Furthermore, Phichit Province has coordinated with the Provincial Administrative Organization and relevant agencies to prepare facilities, traffic management, and security to ensure a smooth competition.

The competition schedule for Friday, 20 February, includes the road cycling time trial starting at 9:00 a.m., held in a circuit format at the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track within Bueng Sifa Chalerm Phra Kiat, with each lap measuring 10.28 kilometers. On Saturday, 21 February, mountain bike cross-country competitions will be held: Class A starting at 9:00 a.m. and Class B at 12:00 p.m., with each lap covering 3.75 kilometers. In the afternoon at 3:00 p.m., the “Bike for Life” health cycling event, a collaboration between ThaiHealth, the Cycling Association of Thailand, Phichit Province, and the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, will take place around the Bueng Sifa Chalerm Phra Kiat, covering 10.28 kilometers.
