Thailand is ready to host the 29th international sailing race, The Bay Regatta, welcoming sailors from 10 countries to compete on the world-famous scenic route across Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi from 18 to 22 February 2026.
Regatta Asia announced its readiness to organize the 29th The Bay Regatta international sailing competition from 18 to 22 February 2026, welcoming sailors from over 10 countries. It is the only event in Thailand to use the Passage Racing format along the renowned scenic route through Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi, known worldwide for its challenge and beauty. This year, more than 30 yachts in various classes will compete, reinforcing Thailand's capability to host world-class sailing events and promoting Thai marine tourism internationally.
For nearly three decades, The Bay Regatta has been distinguished by its stunning Andaman Sea course. This year’s four-day race will start from Ao Por coast in Phuket, head to Koh Yao Yai, weave through the world-famous spectacular scenery of Phang Nga Bay, proceed to Ao Nang in Krabi, and return to Phuket. This route is acclaimed as one of the most beautiful sailing courses in Southeast Asia, offering both challenge and memorable experiences that keep international sailors coming back annually.
Each race day concludes with award ceremonies and beachside social events, reflecting The Bay Regatta’s role in supporting local tourism economies, fostering cultural exchange, and showcasing the warm hospitality of the Thai people.
“The Bay Regatta is more than just a race. Beyond reaffirming Thailand’s internationally recognized sailing event standards, we take pride in promoting sustainable marine tourism and driving the economies of Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi through the participation of sailors from many countries for nearly 30 years. On behalf of the organizers, I thank all government and private agencies for their continuous support,” said Arawintanee Watthana, event organizer of The Bay Regatta and director of Regatta Asia.
Another highlight of the 29th Bay Regatta is the celebration of the new Capitainerie building opening at Port Takola Marina in Krabi, part of the project’s second phase expansion. A special social event will mark this milestone, showcasing the growth of the marina business and industry, and emphasizing Krabi’s role as an emerging international yachting hub.
The 2026 race will feature strong international sailing teams across multiple classes, especially in the Premier Racing Class. The defending champion Team Hollywood from Australia will compete with their TP52 yacht against teams Shahtoosh from Hong Kong, Yasooda from Germany, and Aftershock from Australia.
In the IRC Class, the lineup includes Alright (Sydney 40) sailed by Craig Nichols from Manly 16ft Skiff Club, Australia, Mati Sepp from Estonia with the yacht Gern Kard, and Niels Degenkowl from Denmark, a multiple-time champion sailing Phoenix (X ¾ Ton).
The Monohull Cruising Class features international teams competing with both private and chartered yachts. Notable competitors include Slipstream, KimiKimi, and the classic Swan II yacht, built in 1969.
The Multihull Classes highlight Phuket’s strong boatbuilding industry, with 9 of the 12 multihulls built in Thailand, including six Stealth yachts from Asia Catamarans.
The 29th The Bay Regatta international sailing race in 2026, organized by Regatta Asia, is supported by a wide network of sponsors and partners from maritime, tourism, hospitality, and local business sectors.
