A Thai track coach, who played a key role in developing the rising runner Phuriphon Bunsorn, shared his experience of narrowly avoiding a health crisis after experiencing abnormal heart symptoms on 3 March 2026, which required urgent medical treatment.
On 6 March 2026, Thai track coach Akwit Saengphon, one of the coaches who helped develop the rising star 'Bew Phuriphon Bunsorn,' encountered an unexpected incident. He recounted that after finishing lunch, he noticed from his health watch that his heart rate was rising rapidly to an unusual level, with his resting pulse reaching about 120 beats per minute, accompanied by tightness in his left chest.
With his knowledge and experience in sports, he recognized this could be an abnormal heart warning sign and decided to drive to the Bang Phut Subdistrict Administrative Organization to seek emergency vehicle assistance for transport to the hospital.
Upon examination at Thammasat Chalermprakiet Hospital, doctors diagnosed a blockage in the upper left coronary artery caused by fat deposits, requiring treatment with balloon angioplasty and stent insertion, which was performed on 4 March 2026.
After treatment, the coach's condition stabilized, and he is currently recovering. He acknowledged that this event was an important warning to pay closer attention to his health in the future.
