The 2026 Thailand Road Cycling Championships for the King Bhumibol Royal Cup and the Thailand Mountain Bike Championships for the Royal Cup took place from 6-8 March 2026 at Khao Phraya Dern Thong Subdistrict Municipality, Phatthananikom District, Lopburi Province. The time trial road cycling opening ceremony was held on 6 March in front of the municipal office, presided over by Lieutenant Commander Songphon Paenkaew, Deputy Governor of Lopburi Province. Also attending were Surasak Jermsombat, mayor of Khao Phraya Dern Thong, Navy Captain Thitaphon Noirak, Secretary-General of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, Amnat Changklengdee, Director of the Sports Authority of Thailand in Lopburi Province, and other government officials.
Surasak Jermsombat, mayor of Khao Phraya Dern Thong, said it was a great honor for the municipality to cooperate with the Cycling Association of Thailand to host the 2026 Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Championships, Round 3. The competitions covered various categories for road and mountain biking, notably the downhill mountain bike event, which involved descending from an actual mountain with many obstacles, requiring high skill and ability. This competition served as strength training for athletes preparing to compete internationally.
Mayor Surasak added that many athletes participated in this event, along with nearly 2,000 supporters, creating a lively atmosphere. Most accommodations in Phatthananikom District were almost fully booked. This helped stimulate the economy effectively during Lopburi’s low tourist season, which falls in the hot season. Thus, hosting the Thailand Cycling Championships helped increase income for hotel operators, restaurants, and local vendors, while also promoting tourism in Lopburi Province.
