Sarawut Sirironnachai, a Thai national cyclist preparing for the 20th Asian Games, won the men's public road race at the 2026 Thailand National Road Cycling Championships, held at the Khao Phraya Den Thong Municipality in Lopburi Province. Meanwhile, Phitthayaporn Saetan took the women's under-23 championship. Mayor Tee, Surasak Cheermsombat, expressed enthusiasm to host again next year, noting that cycling helps stimulate the economy and promote tourism.
The 2026 Thailand National Road and Mountain Bike Championships, competing for the Royal King's Bhumibol Trophy and the Royal Trophy respectively, held their third round from 6-8 March 2026 at Khao Phraya Den Thong Municipality, Phatthananikom District, Lopburi Province. On 8 March, the final day of road race competition, Acting Lieutenant Tortrai Phankaew, Deputy Governor of Lopburi, officially launched the race in front of the municipal office, accompanied by Mayor Surasak Cheermsombat, Navy Captain Thitiporn Noirak, Secretary-General of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and other officials. The event was livestreamed on Facebook via the Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as YouTube's TCA Channel, attracting over 16,000 viewers.
After the opening ceremony, Mayor Surasak Cheermsombat stated that the collaboration between Khao Phraya Den Thong Municipality and the Cycling Association in hosting the 2026 National Road and Mountain Bike Championships' third round was highly successful. Notably, the mountain bike course included new downhill and cross-country tracks with challenging obstacles well-liked by athletes. The 114 km road race was safely managed with cooperation from police, rescue volunteers, civil defense, health volunteers, and municipal staff.
He thanked the Cycling Association for organizing the event in Khao Phraya Den Thong, which attracted thousands of athletes, filling local hotels and boosting business for shops and restaurants. He hopes General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Cycling Association, will return the event next year to further stimulate the economy and tourism in Phatthananikom District. Residents have grown familiar with Khao Phraya Den Thong after witnessing cyclists finish atop the scenic hill with views of the Pasak Chonlasit Dam. When asked, all athletes agreed they would return next year. The municipality warmly welcomes all cyclists, Mayor Surasak said.
Results from the men's public road race (114 km) were as follows: 1st place Sergeant Sarawut Sirironnachai from the Ministry of Defense team, time 2:44:38; 2nd place Air Force Captain Peeraphon Chaochiangkwang from the Air Force KOM-KOM team, time 2:44:43; 3rd place Alex Destribois Cudroy from KOM-KOM team, time 2:44:52.
In the men's under-23 category (114 km), first place went to Nattakorn Kaewmukda of the HCCT BY Pump Lung Teng & RSU Rangsit team, finishing in 2:48:45; second was Jirant Kanthapuang of KOM-KOM team at 2:51:15; third was Yannachana Chomphusri from Fisherman Friend Cycling Training Center, Wing 46 Phitsanulok, at 2:52:22.
In the women's public category (70 km), first place was Juthamas Ariyapapon, an independent rider, with a time of 2:09:55; second was Phitthayaporn Saetan from Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai, 2:11:39; third was Raphatporn Jirapiboonkrit of PUM BIKE HOPINN SPECIALIZED LOPBURI, 2:19:15.
In the women's under-23 category (70 km), Phitthayaporn Saetan, a Thai national cyclist preparing for the 20th Asian Games from Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai, won first place with 2:11:39. Pinpak Chiangsuon of Royal Thai Navy Core Cycling placed second at 2:19:41, and Natcha Songken from Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai was third with 2:20:44.
In the boys' youth category (70 km), first place went to Kritpas Homkajorn of PUM BIKE HOPINN SPECIALIZED LOPBURI with 1:53:37; second was Kritpas Markthanat from PRIME19 at 1:53:38; third was Thanyanop Pandi from HEROBIKE-Phayao Pittayakom School-Phayao Sports Association at 1:55:18.
In the girls' youth category (70 km), first place went to Phumrat Chalermkit, a Thai national cyclist preparing for the 20th Asian Games from Fisherman Friend Wat Dong Noi, with a time of 2:36:14; second was Siwaporn Phuttharam from Bangkok Sports School & Roojai, 2:37:13; third was Yadaowdee Chuaykham from Municipal School 1 (Ban Tha Thapao) Chumphon CHAOYANG OKO, 2:37:41.
In the boys' junior category (70 km), first place was Watcharapong Sangkhasorn of Fisherman Friend Wing 46 Phitsanulok, finishing in 2:05:39; second was Burapha Hingthaisong of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai, 2:05:40; third was Athikun Santa of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai, 2:06:40.
Additionally, the Eliminator mountain bike race was held at the base of the trail leading to the Khao Phraya Den Thong viewpoint. Notable results in the men's public category included: 1st place Chief Warrant Officer Watcharakorn Onthuri, a Thai national cyclist preparing for the 20th Asian Games from the Royal Navy Trinx Chaoyang Arisun OKO/Singburi team; 2nd place Pongpeera Pongayukul from the Ma Mui Nakhon Sawan-Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai club; 3rd place Sergeant Punsiri Sirimongkol from the Ministry of Defense office team.
In the women's public category, first place went to Pornpak Prothang, a Thai national cyclist preparing for the 20th Asian Games from the Chiang Khan M.T.B. 28 team; second was Kanokrat Ritdech from Bike Net; and third was Atitaya Nuprokon from Ban Kruad Witthayakarn team. The next events organized by the Cycling Association will be the 2026 Thailand BMX National Championship, competing for the Royal Trophy of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the second round, and the international BMX competition "Thailand BMX Cup" C1 level, on 14-15 March at Kamol Sports Park, Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, Bangkok.
